The Feng Ji Wan Cai Express Logistics Equipment Supplies Sourcing Expo 2018 was held in Hangzhou from October 9 to 11, 2018. As China's leading semi-trailer company, CIMC Vehicles interpreted the connotation of "quality-driven value" with innovative actions. 866 vehicles were ordered within three days, and all of them were produced by CIMC Vehicles's "lighthouse plants."

Light Tower Plants Brings Disruptive Changes to the Industry

CIMC Vehicles light tower plant is the product of CIMC Vehicles's exploration of automated and digital production methods to keep up with the national strategy and world trend. As early as the end of 2014, CIMC Vehicles proactively proposed the "light tower plant" project plan, which aims to upgrade traditional manufacturing factories into automated, digital and IT-based ones.

The core of the CIMC Vehicles’s light tower project is to "produce semi-trailers in the same way as producing cars." The three pillars around this core are modular product design, automated IoT equipment, and information system connecting the two.

At present, CIMC Vehicles have upgraded four light tower plants, namely, CIMC Huajun Plant, Yangzhou Tonghua Plant, Dongguan Plant and Shenzhen Pingshan Plant. It is known that light tower plant can replace about 45% of the manual labor, improve the production efficiency by 66%, enhance the logistics efficiency by 90%, and achieve zero emission of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). With the help of blanking by laser cutting machine, robot welding, KTL powder-spraying coating and other technologies, CIMC Vehicles has already elevated the production process of special-purpose vehicles to a new level. Three pioneering products were exhibited on the site: middle axle van trailer, side curtain van semi-trailer, and lightweight gooseneck trailer, all from CIMC Vehicles's "light tower plants."

Middle Axle Van Trailer with the Largest Capacity after Vehicle Standardization

Next, let's talk about the three products on display this time. With the country's increasing efforts to control overload, vehicle standardization is an inevitable trend in the future. After vehicle standardization, the middle axle van trailer is likely to dominate less-than-truckload and express delivery industries in the future thanks to its large capacity.

The middle axle van trailer displayed by CIMC Vehicles in Hangzhou has a dead weight of 7.5 tons and a load weight of 32.5 tons. Its inner dimensions are 7.2×2.45×2.8 meters. Compared with the current common semi-trailer, the middle axle van trailer has a larger volume. According to the provisions of GB1589, the front and rear bodies of the middle axle van trailer can have a total volume of up to 115 cubic meters, which allows it to carry 35% more goods than a semi-trailer. The mode of one vehicle with multiple trailers can also save the cost of vehicle and manpower for customers and improve the transportation efficiency. Furthermore, the middle axle van trailer can meet the needs of rapid unloading midway, thus it is very suitable for the express delivery industry.

European Dominant Side Curtain Van Semi-Trailer with Fast Loading/Unloading and Light Weight

The side curtain van semi-trailer has the characteristics of light weight, low cost, easy loading/unloading, beautiful appearance, etc. It is currently the main transport equipment in the European market, and mirrors the development trend of China's future advanced models. With the release of GB7258, China's side curtain van semi-trailer is about to embrace unprecedented opportunities. The side curtain van semi-trailer on display is an order vehicle of Shandong Qilu Logistics Co., Ltd., with a dead weight of 7.2 tons and a load weight of 32.5 tons. Its inner dimensions are 13.6×2.47×2.54 meters, and its volume is 85 cubic meters.

The carriage body is completely standardized and conforms to the requirements of laws and regulations to avoid overload and over-limit. Compared with an ordinary van logistics vehicle, the side curtain van semi-trailer has the biggest advantage of light weight and fuel saving. Its weight is one ton lighter than that of an ordinary van with the same load weight. Because the curtain can be quickly pulled open, the side curtain van semi-trailer can allow loading/unloading from three directions, greatly improving the efficiency of loading/unloading. In addition, the curtain is wide and flat, thus is very suitable for advertising and publicity.

Lightweight Gooseneck Trailer with a Minimum Dead Weight of 3700kg

The lightweight gooseneck trailer is produced by CIMC Tonghua. Its dimensions are 13950×2500×1400, 1500mm, 1600mm, 1725mm. The trailer has a variety of height options. The model with single tire is optional. The minimum dead weight is 3700kg. The three models on display are produced by CIMC Vehicles’s lighthouse plants. Modular design is adopted to facilitate late replacement and component repair, with lower maintenance cost. Blanking by laser cutting machine, robot welding and KTL powder-spraying coating improve the manufacturing accuracy of lighthouse plant products, enhance anti-corrosion performance, and extend service life.
